Lovely Hand Illustrated Invitations by Color Me Carla

Jan 9, 2013

Meet Carla, a fabulous designer and illustrator at Color Me Carla; hailing from Minnesota.  She is relatively new to the wedding world, and aren’t we lucky to have her?  I adore her 100% sweet and personal illustrations.  I know some of you are with me on this: I admittedly get overly excited about pretty table numbers like Penny & Rob’s.  When a couple is attentive to the details and uses their invitation suite to pull their entire wedding together, magic happens.  It really does!  Your invitation is key in setting the tone for your wedding and is the one design element that will be present (practically) from first kiss to the last twinkle of your sparkler send-off.

A little bit about Carla: “Since I was a wee little one, I have always enjoyed drawing, painting and all things crafty. About a year ago some friends asked if I would illustrate their wedding invitations with portraits of each of them. The stationery was so well received that I decided to start my own little shop offering custom illustrated portraits for brides and grooms that want every detail of their wedding to feel unique and personalized.”

Her design philosophy: “Each order is tailored to be truly personalized, special and unique to the bride and groom. I love getting to know a new couple through all of the personal touches they are planning for their big day. I start the process by asking brides to send me photos of their dress, flowers, color palette and any extra touches that will help me customize their invitations. I then hand illustrate all florals, patterns, portraits and typography to create a whimsical, timeless and elegant piece of art that reflects the happy couple.”

Carla says she loves trying new styles, details and ideas so if you are looking for something special that you don’t see in her shop, simply contact her.  She is lovely to work with, and I, for one, would love to see your darling invitation suite.
